Paddle Dryer Application on Sludge Drying


  

Process Description
Wet sludge is pumped into the primary dryer by sludge pump. Half-dried sludge is fed into the secondary dryer by the discharge valve. After that, the dehydrated sludge enters the incinerator for further disposal. The removed solid waste will be dumped. Steam out of the boiler is the heat source for the secondary dryer, from which the overheated steam can work as the heat source of the primary dryer when it is purified. Steam and Off-gas from the primary dryer pass separately through the scrubber for condensation. The condensate out of the scrubber flows into the waste-water treatment plant and the residue gas is via the blower blown into incinerator and the exhaust will be vented to atmosphere after process of off-gas purification and absorption.    

Strengths
1.Two-stage blade dryer is adopted in this system, compact in structure and small in size;
2.Compared with traditional hot blast drying method, steam drying method employs the steam as the drying medium, which is featured by high efficiency and low energy consumption.
3.With steam as the drying medium, the whole system is operated in closed loop. Off-gas out of the secondary dryer can work as the heat source of the primary dryer when it is purified. In this way, the potential heat can be recycled and reused, which greatly reduces steam consumption by 40% compared with the conventional singly-stage blade dryer.
4.The dehydrated sludge can be used as fuel. In this way, the system can realize self-balance and greatly saves energy.
5.This drying technique is a form of closed circulation. Small amount of non-condensate can return to the incinerator and help in combustion. Compared with traditional hot blast drying method, this method is environment friendly with low emission. Besides, this method reduces the investment in off-gas disposal as well.
6.The whole system in under inert shield with low content of oxygen, which reduces risk of fires, safe in operation.
